English text
Where the bee sucks, there suck I:
In a cowslip's bell I lie;
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat's back I do fly
After summer merrily.
Merrily, merrily shall I live now
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough.
German translation
Wo die Biene saugt, saug’ ich,
im Schoß der Primul lagr’ ich mich,
dort schlaf ich, wenn die Eule schreit,
ich flieg’, in steter Munterkeit,
fern von des Winters Ungemach
dem angenehmen Sommer nach,
wie fröhlich wird künftig
mein Aufenthalt sein
unter den Blüten im duftenden Hain!
