Latin text Habeto benevolentiam cum adversario tuo cito, dum es in via cum illo, ne quando te tradat adversarius judici, et judex te tradat ministro, et in carcerem conjiciaris. Amen, dico tibi, non exibis illinc, donec persolveris extremum quadrantem.

German translation Sei gütlich mit deinem Widersacher rechtzeitig, solange du mit ihm auf dem Weg bist, damit er dich nicht dann beim Richter als Feind behandele, und der Richter dich dem Gerichtsdiener übergebe und in den Kerker werfen lasse. Wahrlich, ich sage dir, du wirst nicht herauskommen, bevor du den letzten Heller bezahlt hast.

English translation Be diligent with your adversary, as long as you are on the way with him, that he may not treat you as an enemy before the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and he cast you into prison. Truly, I tell you: you shall not get out till you have paid the very last copper.
