Hor ch’ogni vento tace
e sol fresch’aura spira in queste fronde,
che dolcemente tempr’il cald’estivo,
sediam qui tutti in pace
e al mormorar de l’onde
di questo chiaro rilucente rivo,
cantiam ninfe e pastori,
“Viva la bella Dori!”.

 Now that every wind is hushed
and only a cool breeze breathes in these boughs,
gently tempering the heat of summer,
Let us all sit here in peace and,
to the murmur of the waves of this clear,
shining stream, let us sing,
nymphs and shepherds:
“Long live fair Dori!”.

en enkel een koelte deze takken beroert,
zachtjes de zomerhitte verdrijvend,
laten wij hier bij elkaar gaan zitten,
