Row the boat lightly, love, over the sea.
Twilight is falling, I’ll hasten with thee
O’er the blue waters now sparkling with foam,
Evermore, dearest, to dwell in thy home.

Row the boat lightly, love, over the sea,
Daily and nightly I’ll wander with thee.
On its clear bosom contented we’ll roam,
Evermore, dearest, to dwell in thy home.

Brave is the heart of the fisherman’s bride,
Though the wind fretteth the wind in its pride;
What though the storm hath encompassed the sea,
Clasping her treasure, Oh what careth she?

How the bark dashes from mountain to vale,
Tossed like a feather, the sport of the gale;
Now it is riven, together they go
To the still depths of the caverns below.
