Slumber, dearest, while above thee
Angel eyes are bending now,
And their starry pinions waving,
Lightly fan thy placid brow;
All is hushed and still around thee,
While my lonely watch I keep;
Thou art dreaming, sweetly dreaming,

Deeper now the midnight shadows
Gather in the valley fair;
Softly thro’ the lattice stealing,
