English text
Star that once so brightly
Lit the eastern night,
Still thy radiance lingers
Mid the orbs of light.
Star that led the watchers
By thy hallowed ray,
Where the infant Saviour
Rudely cradled lay.
Through the mist of ages,
Distant, but yet clear,
Faith doth still behold thee
In the heaven appear.
And to Bethlehem guiding,
Going still before,
Thither thou dost lead us
To worship and adore.
