English text
Beware, beware, the night is dark!
The drifting clouds are rent asunder,
The air is strangely calm–and hark!
A peal, a peal of distant thunder.
Oh, go not forth! the tempest’s might
Is not to be encountered lightly,
More wise to rest on such a night
Beside the fire blazing brightly.
