Zacharias war ganz verstummt,
bis dass von seinem Weibe kommt
ein Sohn durch Gottes Güte,
von dem Verheißung war geschehn,
das er sollt vor dem Herrn hergehn;
des freut sich sein Gemüte.
Der Geist die Sprach ihm wiederbringt,
mit Freuden hebt er an und singt:
Gelobet sei der Herre,
ganz Israel ihn ehre;
er hat besucht, er hat erlöst sein Volk;
gläubt’s und seid getrost.
