Biography
John Alcock Jr. was the eldest son of John Alcock Sr., and was born in Plymouth, where he was baptised on 28 Jan 1740. He was a chorister at Lichfield Cathedral, where his father was organist. He deputized for his father at Lichfield before becoming organist at Newark. In 1773 he was appointed organist of St. Matthew's, Walsall.

His Parochial Harmony, or a Collection of Divine-Music in Score was published in 1777 by Francis Roome of Derby. The book was published by subscription: the subscribers include John Darwall, who was vicar of St. Matthew's, Walsall at that time.

He died at Walsall, and was buried there on 27 Mar 1791.
